A spokesperson for the Lenexa Police Department, says the driver crossed the center median and struck several trees before coming to rest off the roadway on the south side of West 87th Street.When the driver was located, he was unconscious. Despite officers performing lifesaving efforts, the driver — identified as 72-year-old James A. Stewart of Lenexa —was pronounced deceased at the scene. Preliminary investigation indicates a medical event may have led to the crash.
